I am a sociologist with 6 years of teaching/research and 8 years of experience in NGOs/Corporates. I am a gold medalist in sociology from Jamia Milia Islamia and BA (Hons.) from Lady Sri Ram College (LSR), Delhi University. Pursued Ph.D. from prestigious Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur on “Impact of Transnational Migration on Identities of Chakmas in Northeast India and Consequential Shifts in India’s Foreign Policy.” For the same, conducted extensive ethnographic fieldwork on Chakma tribes in geographically isolated terrains of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Arunachal. My areas of specialization are Migration & Diaspora Studies, Tribes of India, Sociology of Religion, Women & Child rights and Rural Sociology. Contributed to education sector in both academic/administrative capacities as Assistant Professor/Course Coordinator in domains of Sociology, Research, Human Values and Professional Communication. Have supervised 5 MA Dissertations/ 9 BA Projects of sociology. Before joining education sector, managed social projects in NGO sector based on victims of rape, trafficking, domestic violence and underprivileged women & children. I have also conducted trainings on safety of women in corporates like HCL, Aegis, etc and was consultant on social matters in the field of road construction. In addition, was international resource person on "Trafficking and HIV-AIDS" in World Social Forum, Sweden (2007). Have expertise of academic publications as I served as Editor-in-Chief of NIU Journal of Social Sciences (NIUJSS) from 2019 to 2023. I have 25 research paper and chapter publications in reputed national/international journals, books, including articles in print media. An avid writer on tribal and woman issues, I have published 2 books on Tribes of India titled, “Revisiting Tribal Heritage of India and Contemporary Issues” (2023) and “Ethnography of Transforming Identities of Chakmas in Northeast India” (2021). Recently, I started a blog https://vibesoftribes.blogspot.com/ on Tribes of India to spread awareness on rich tribal heritage of India.Academic teaching and writing are my forte and I love accomplishing challenging assignments. Perfection is my definition and I go extra miles to maintain quality in tasks I undertake. Being an academician, I enjoy experimenting innovative pedagogical styles with students, thereby mentoring them case-on-case basis.
