My book, High School Is Not Enough: What are you going to about It? (June 2013) is a salient and actionable guide confronting one of our nation’s most pressing crises: high non-completion rates and high student debt. That many students leave K – 12 schools lacking the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in post secondary preparation contributes greatly to a growing absence of readiness experienced by many for today’s and tomorrow’s jobs and careers.My articles and talks focus on diversity, equity and inclusion issues. Their impact on institutionalized bias and societal stressors upon individual and community health and well-being concerns me greatly. My writing is intended to inform current discourse on issues and conflict centering on pigmentation differences.

With significant Mental Health, Higher Education, Workforce Development and Organizational Effectiveness experience, currently I write and speak on such topics as diversity and inclusion, racism and stress, social and environmental justice, workforce development, and organizational effectiveness.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, my leadership for this comprehensive community college with an enrollment of over 12,000 credit and 5000 non-credit students oversaw significant enrollment and facilities growth. I was responsible for student, staff, and faculty recruitment, meeting the institution's diversity goals and intellectual capital needs. Leadership for preparation of diverse higher education leadership pools nationally. Collaborated with elected officials, union leadership, colleagues, agency staff and community leaders to meet the strategic objectives and needs of the institution. Sat on the region’s Workforce Development Board. Annual budget: 42 million dollars; Construction projects: totaled 100 million dollars; auxiliary budgets, training and continuing education revenues exceeded 20 million dollars.

Leadership for preparation of diverse higher education leadership pools nationally. Collaborated with elected officials, colleagues, agency staff and community leaders to meet the strategic objectives and needs of the institution. Increased enrollment by 17%. Increased revenue streams and donor gifts by 23%. Served on community task forces and interacted with various higher education leaders and elected officials. Enrollment exceeded 10,000 credit and 3,200 non-credit students. Annual budget exceeded 20 million dollars including auxiliary accounts.

Reported to the President and worked directly with the Board of Trustees furthering the institution’s regional leadership role in education and training. Represented the institution on the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board. Responsible for student, staff, and faculty recruitment, meeting the institution's diversity goals and intellectual capital needs. Collaborated with elected officials and community leaders in the development of initiatives increasing opportunities for under-served and underrepresented populations. Worked with union leadership, colleagues, agency staff and community agencies to meet the strategic objectives and needs of the institution. Instituted the college’s international student admissions effort. Enrollment exceeded 44,000 credit and non-credit students.
