Current'Mindful Medics; Healthcare starts with Self Care' is a mindfulness & compassion based emotional intelligence training programme designed, developed and delivered to healthcare professionals across the globe.Participant feedback: As you will remember from the first week, I have spent the last few years seriously considering whether I am in the right profession. Iโve been plagued by โimposter syndromeโ and negative thoughts about work. Despite being happy in my personal life, my doubts about work have had a tendency to dominate my leisure time, which has culminated in several crises of confidence, in which I have felt the only option was to find an escape, either by changing specialty or to leave medicine altogether. My morale has much improved following the course. I feel more positive about my career and the future. I am recognising parts of work that I enjoy, feel more settled in my specialty and have no plans to leave. This has had knock-on positive effects on my personal life too.Dr HCCourse participantDoctor in Genetics, National Health Service, UK

Professional Stakeholder: Mindfulness Research
In 2018 I was invited by researchers based at the University of Cambridge to be part of a Professional Stakeholder Advisory Group for a project reviewing mindfulness training programmes for mental health promotion. My contributions to the group stemmed from the unique combination of being a medical doctor and an experienced mindfulness teacher within the healthcare profession. My specific role as part of this group was to offer key insights and ask questions to the researchers to help shape their research protocol. The research led to two peer reviewed journal articles: Mindfulness-based programmes for mental health promotion in adults in non-clinical settings: protocol of an individual participant data meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.Full article link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35410936/Systematic review and individual participant data meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials assessing mindfulness-based programs for mental health promotionFull article link: https://www.nature.com/articles/s44220-023-00081-5
