Delivery of technical consultancy to global fresh produce businesses

- Drove the strategic direction of technical function within Greenery UK on behalf of customers.- Drove innovation and delivers “first to market” developments (New Product Development) for the benefit of the consumer, retail customers, supply base, and to Greenery UK itself. Innovation addressed: product, production, process, packaging and logistics to improve the range, quality, availability and cost price of our products - principle products - Tomato, Sweet Pepper and Tropical Fruit

- Ensured customer development objectives are followed / or adjusted to meet technical or Commercial challenges / constraints / opportunities.- Managed all Farm Assurance Schemes / Industry Technical Schemes and Research & Development Programmes.- Updated directors of changes to technical and legislative structures which affected the production operations, and ensure all key producers are fully informed of these developments.

- Development of agronomic methods utilised in producing UK quality produce. Key products - brassicas, legumes, protected salads and melons.- Monitored the quality of production- Investigated the causes of any production specific quality problems- Completed supplier audits (BRC, Global Gap, Marks & Spencer’s ´Field to Fork´ protocols) and HACCP work in conjunction with UK technical team. – this included developing environmental initiatives and strategy (Spain and Morocco).- Provided support/translation for UK based technical teams during annual audits.- Carried out standard QA assessments on routine visits to suppliers to ensure that standards were maintained.

- Delivered and managed ADAS Pest (Insect and Nematode) management and monitoring services on UK and overseas farms.- Provided strategic consultancy and training to UK and overseas-based vegetable and salad producers, processors and marketers.- Key account and contract management with UK multiples, food and global crop protection industries.- Key involvement in entomological and nematology based R&D projects – Agricultural/Horticultural (HDC, DEFRA (DEFRA LINK), EU funded.
