Founder, President And CeoExplora Biolabs May 2004 - May 2018I founded Explora BioLabs in 2004 to help San Diego biotech companies with their critical preclinical research facility needs. Started in a modest 1500 sq ft of lab space and without outside investors, we grew organically to 4 facilities in San Diego, 3 facilities in San Francisco by 2017. In 2018, Seabright Fund, led by Sandy Paige, acquired majority shares of Explora, and further expanded Explora's footprint to 20 facilities in 4 major life science cities. Charles River Labs eventually acquired Explora in 2022 and incorporated it into its CRADL network.

Due to its successful genomic target discovery platform, Genset was acquired by Serono in June 2002. I helped selling off the physical assets in San Diego and closed the facility.

I joined the company to develop high throughput gene targeting technology in order to do large scale target validation in vivo. The ambitious project was halfway off the ground before Sequana merged with Arris and morphed into Axys.
