Wrote the Project Engineering Plan that defined the overall technical solution, engineering approach (V-Model utilising feature-driven development) and systems engineering activities (for the entire software development lifecycle) required to deliver concurrent UK and export Typhoon projects (TCV ~ £50m) from a common codebase in compliance with the AMPA Quality Management System and to the satisfaction of all project stakeholders. One of four Project Technical Authorities for Typhoon AMPA who provided technical leadership, risk management and design assurance for all requirements management, design specification, code implementation and verification test artefacts produced by the 50+ development team for the delivery of these projects.Increased control and productivity of development tasks by specifying and gaining approval for work to port the legacy codebase to UCM ClearCase, replace existing conditional compilation statements with build time (RPMs) and run-time configuration, resolve extant compiler warnings, improve the Jenkins build process and automate UI testing.Technical oversight and involvement in the successful qualification of the Typhoon UK V4.1 (addition of P1E(b) aircraft support) and V5 (addition of debriefing, data distribution and GPS prediction capabilities) projects.Led 2 man team that investigated, evaluated and estimated options for upgrading the existing AMPA database. 3D Project Technical Lead (Ampa, Air Systems, Defence)

Hp

Palo Alto, Ca, Us

Provided technical leadership and design assurance from the start of all aspects of the internal 3D project (£1.4m), consisting of up to 12 developers, that successfully specified, designed, developed, tested and integrated a set of generic, reusable, cross-platform, configurable components providing both 3D and side views of the geospatial domain for the rehearsal of planned and the debriefing of recorded aircraft missions. Initially integrated with the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer AMPA variant, as part of the addition of a full debriefing capability, this led, in part, to additional contract wins totalling > £100m that resulted in the subsequent development and integration of these components with Hawk UK (FJT) and Export, Typhoon UK and Export and Tornado Export AMPA variants.First point of contact for external US sub-contractor to co-ordinate development and delivery, to meet my defined Statement of Work and Acceptance Criteria, of sequential updates of the 'Google Earth-like' open source 3rd party library that was utilised by the 3D Viewer. Successfully gained approval for it's use from HP's Open Source Review Board.Introduced & implemented SCRUM Agile software development using a product backlog, sprint planning & retrospective meetings, sprint burn-down charts, daily scrums, continuous integration (Jenkins) & automated unit testing practices to improve the team's productivity. Initially, I acted as Scrum Master but became Product Owner when the team grew in size.Utilised the feature-driven development process, defining the features and associated component requirements in DOORS, tracing to the UML design in Enterprise Architect and through to integration test cases that verified their implementation. 3D components were written in C++ using Boost extensions utilising the OpenSceneGraph 2.0, wxWidgets, libxml2 and other open source, 3rd party libraries. Google Test & Mock were used for automated unit testing and a test harness for component testing.
