Dr Robert Bourke is the founder and director of Eastern Neuropsychology. He completed a Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology at The University of Melbourne in 2008. Dr Bourke has a specific interest in forensic neuropsychology and how cognitive impairment impacts on offending behaviour. He has worked over the past seven years assessing acquired brain injury and other causes of cognitive impairment in the criminal justice system, including the provision of expert evidence in court. Dr Bourke also has extensive experience in the areas of acute neurology, rehabilitation, geriatric neuropsychology including the diagnosis of dementia and the assessment of decision making capacity. He has held positions as a clinical neuropsychologist in a number of settings, including at Alcohol Related Brain Injury Australian Services (ARBIAS) along with the role of Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Monash Medical Centre. Dr Bourke has several peer reviewed publications on the cognitive and behavioural impact of sleep disordered breathing in children. Along with his work in Eastern Neuropsychology, Dr Bourke continues his work in the public health sector as a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist.
