Learning mentors provide invaluable support to students, who are typically experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties which are adversely impinging on their academic work. I furnish the mentors with advice and understanding of the causes of the students' difficulties, and suggest appropriate methods of support. The service the mentors and I provide is crucial to the students' emotional and intellectual wellbeing, and their capacity to cope.

Provide supervision to learning mentors who give emotional and practical support to children who are experiencing difficulties with their education. Aim is to enable students to overcome their emotional, intellectual and psychological difficulties whilst also fulfilling their academic potential.

Social work team including community care officers and an occupational therapist. Initiated, developed and managed community services and resources for people living in the community who were experiencing severe mental illness. These included shared housing schemes, adult placement schemes, counselling service for women, Asian support group, and groupwork.From 1980 to 1987 I also managed social work services for adults who had learning difficulties and their families. I also initiated, developed and initially managed a Homeless Single Persons Team for people vulnerable because of their diagnosed mental illness.
