Dr. Laysears-Smith has over 30 years experience in developing, planning, training, and implementing programs; supervising, evaluating people; overcoming challenges and accomplishing goals for advancement of people, places and programs in Education. She has served on three Superintendent of School’s cabinet of urban, suburban and rural school districts and successfully supervised over 43 public schools. Dr. Smith has been successful in raising student and staff achievement in every position held and has authored a self-improvement, inspirational book entitled, “Thoughts That Feed The Resilient Mind.” Dr. Smith was honored with the Outstanding Dissertation Award in Education from Phi Beta Kappa and has been recognized by Pennsylvania Department of Education for her work with at-risk programs. Dr. Smith has serves on national and local advisory boards. She mentors doctoral students and serves as External Examiner of dissertations and continues to inspire leaders in education and social services. She enjoys motivating and providing professional development and training for secondary and post secondary students, faculty and staff of non-profit/profit organizations and businesses. Hence, student success is at the core of her belief system. Dr. Smith is the Founder of Women Empowering Themselves (WET) and former Principal Education Consultant and Founder of High Stakes Education Services (HSES). She has a passion to communicate to a vast variety of publics from schools to prisons: churches to non-profit organizations. Dr. Smith provides memorable informative academic and motivational lectures and presentations. Her aim is to educate minds and empower people.
