I am currently the Management Analyst for the HOPI Critical Access Hospital and Health Care Center, and was recently the Director of Student Resident Life at a National American Indian College (SIPI), in this same vein I was the former Director of Haskell Indian Nations University Counseling Department and have been teaching psychology, College Success and College Survival courses for the past (15) years and most recently for the past (5) years at Central New Mexico Community College, (8) years at the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus; I am also the former Director of the New Mexico Department of Health Office of American Indian Health, I represented the Cabinet Secretary of Health in working with the 22 New Mexico Tribes and the off-reservation groups. I have worked in behavioral health for the past 17 years in various capacities as a program director, administrator, therapist and case worker.In my career I possess both college teaching and executive qualifications and have credentials as a PhD from an accredited American Psychological Association Counseling (Clinical) Psychology Program and a masters in counseling (CAREP) from the University of New Mexico. I a trained Scientist/Practitioner Discipline and experience (17 years) in research, education, clinical protocols/services (Dual Diagnosis), Assessments/Evaluations, general accounting principles, budget process/strategic planning, including formulation, monitoring and reconciliation; formulating policy, procurement regulations, property management, inventory control, purchasing, Human Resources classification, staffing, employee relations, payroll, other general personnel functions and customer service. Permanent Full-Time Management Analyst for the Administrative Services Division located at the Hopi Health Care Center (Critical Access Hospital) in Polacca, Arizona. Management Analyst will perform a variety of analytical assignments utilizing qualitative and quantitative analysis to review and evaluate administrative operations and management practices for the purpose of improving organization efficiency and effectiveness and will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer.-Gather and organize information on problems or procedures; such as Meaningful Use. Through this process I report to CMS provider data on Medicaid and Medicare Stage, 1 through 3.     As the Director I develop, direct, lead and implement the Native American Liaison program in accordance with the Government-to-Government Policy Agreement and resultant Tribal Consultation Protocol for the State Department of Health (DOH). The Policy for this position is to conduct meaningful tribal consultation between the State of New Mexico and the Governors or Presidents of the 22 Tribes, Nations and Pueblos. The DOH has over 200 Health programs and services that the Tribes, Nations and Pueblos are eligible for.As the Director I facilitate, direct, organize and coordinate the American Indian Health Advisory Committee for the Secretary of Health; The tribal leaders of the 22 Tribes are exofficio members. This committee is the only existing Indian committee advising the State on Indian Health issues and policy. I also facilitate and organize the Secretary of Health’s Recruitment & Retention of Indian Health Professionals.-I work and report to the Secretary of Health on Indian Health Policy, Health issues and concerns, recommend policy and creating access to health care with State Resources, make recommendations for use of the State and Tribal Protocol.Responsible for the development of presentations at national meetings, forums and conferences to include those sponsored by the federal government thus fostering New Mexico and the department as a model program for State-Tribal relations.-Representative for New Mexico DOH on government to government relations with tribes in arranging protocols and translating policy and procedural issues.-Lead inter-tribal meetings (i.e. American Indian Health Advisory Committee), lead and direct work teams within DOH and across multiple departments to address Native American issues, across multiple state and federal program areas. -Develop creative recommendations about DOH policy and programmatic approached to address Native American issues while living within state and federal budget and policy guidelines and constraints.

    -Principal investigator for the Kellogg Folic Acid 960,000 dollar tri-year grant, I supervise the subcontractors working in four New Mexico Counties (Bernalillo, Dona Ana, San Juan and Mckinley County) and two Project Evaluators. I also supervise (4) county health coordinators and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Support worker at the Lovelace Women’s Hospital. I monitored and tracked expenses and the budget.-I worked very closely with the Governor of Isleta and Santa Ana, these tribal communities hosted mystakeholders meetings.-I was appointed by the Cabinet Secretary of Health and supported by Governor Martinez to be part of a (5) Member State Team to review children's services in New Mexico and make recommendations on improving those services.-Direct the planning, implementation and evaluation of March of Dimes program services and government affairs activities across New Mexico including a statewide preconception initiative, public and professional health education, grants, awareness, community services, advocacy and volunteer recruitment/development. Supervise the March of Dimes Legislative Team, testified at the legislature and met with the President Protem and cabinet Secretaries to support legislation. During the State legislation in New Mexico, I serve as one of the March of Dimes registered lobbyist in Santa Fe.-As a member of the National Governor’s Team (NGA2) I was appointed by cabinet Secretary Retta Ward for the NMDOH to the State Child & Family Maternal Team with the Governor’s Office. We evaluated the maternal/child health needs in New Mexico in order to allocate resources and address needs.-Establish a strong volunteer base for program and advocacy activities including planning, implementation and evaluation.-Cultivate relationships and develop collaborative partnerships with maternal/child health agencies and health reporters in New Mexico.
