Dr Rona Campbell Email and Phone Number
I am a senior manager working in economic and community development. I have a particular interest in land reform, community land ownership and community empowerment, with a focus on how to address population decline in parts of the Highlands and Islands. Alongside the day job, I have completed a Phd into resilience of Community Land Trusts in the Outer Hebrides and whether they are a model for local development. This follows on from an MSc. My MSc thesis ' What are the barriers to succession planning in Community Land Trusts ' is available as an e-book. Lots of people work and study so there’s nothing super human about me but it does take determination to keep going with it! I really enjoy writing and see that as something I will continue to do beyond full time work. As an ex broadcaster, I covered anything from politics to sport. The first half of my career was spent in broadcasting (radio/tv reporting and producing), with further experience as a communications consultant in private and public sectors. I worked with the BBC , Channel 4 News and STV. Specialities: Community engagement and project delivery. Leading and facilitating partnership working. Research and policy development. Chairing and presenting at conferences. #Communityempowerment #Sustainabledevelopment #Economicdevelopment #Broadcaster #Academic Skill set also includes: mentoring middle management executives; crisis management, emergency planning and communication ; communicating change management; communication skills training for promotion; writing for radio/tv production. I can also advise on how to balance studying and full time work having achieved two postgraduate degrees in the last nine years. If I can do it, so can you! Member of the first board of the Scottish Universities Insight Institute. Experienced awards judge ( Scottish Legal Awards, Tayside Retail Awards, Young Professional Green Energy Awards).Profile picture credit Tim Winterburn

I act as a project manager on various work streams. I continued to use my broadcasting background presenting and interviewing on DVDs and also in the WES information webinars for the competitive project calls. My role changed to include working with teams covering Universities, Education and Skills, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing and the Creative Industries. I also worked with colleagues in HIE's area offices, particularly in Innse Gall and Caithness & Sutherland. I supported the marketing services framework within HIE and had a responsibility for film. Overall, a number of projects cover aspects of the wide ranging talent attraction agenda to our region which was a challenging but very rewarding aspect of my work. Using my sector knowledge, I made a film about community land ownership 'Our Land, Building a Future' which is available on the HIE youtube channel.
