The Regional Nurse Leader is a front-line leader of the Nursing Network who partners with the Regional Volunteer Services Officer to recruit health and mental health professional volunteers per regional needs. The RNL provides guidance on nursing and health matters and helps build health and mental health professional capacity in the region. RNLs promote volunteer engagement, recognition, retention, and satisfaction across the business lines and work to achieve the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

Served as a Hospitalman. One year prior to discharge, held position of Leading Petty Officer of the Minor Emergency and Immunizations Clinics. Other rotations included laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray, physical exams, sick call and medical records. In 1985 received an Honorable Discharge and then served in the Navy Reserve until 1990. Served as a unit medical representative for 80+ men. Assessed and treated all minor, as well as major medical concerns: educated reservists on maintenance of homeostasis, and maintained unit medical and dental records.
