Having working in several forecasting offices of IMD in various capacities, acquired varied experience both in operational weather forecasting, numerical weather prediction and research. Published more than 100 research publications in national and international journals on Atmospheric Sciences and supervised 5 Ph.D. awardees. Some of my important contributions are: (a) Development and implementation of a Multi-Model Ensemble (MME) based district level weather forecast system for Agro-advisory Service of India, (b) Development of a statistical-dynamical method for cyclone forecasting, (c) Processing of Doppler Weather Radar data for nowcasting and mesoscale modeling and (d) Implementation of Polar WRF for Maitri Region in Antarctica. My areas of expertise are: Numerical Weather Prediction, Tropical Cyclone, Monsoon and meso-scale localized convective features. My significant contribution was successful co-ordination of US-AID supported multi-institutional programme on Early Warning System for India. The programme involved training and technology transfer. Under the programme 22 Indian scientists were trained in USA and after return technology was implemented for the Indian region. As the P.I. I participated in a series of consulting meetings at NCEP Washington, NCAR Boulder, NSSL Oklahoma during 26 March to 10 April 2005 to finalize training programme. Again I participated in a Panel of Discussion in the Annual Hazard Workshop and series of meeting with the US-AID collaborative Institutes (NEC Goldel, NCAR Boulder, NWS Orlando, NHC/HRD Miami in USA) during July 14-24, 2008 for identifying the area of future collaboration. During October 5-9, 2009 I participated WMO Expert Team Meeting on Ensemble Prediction System at U.K. Met Office, Exeter, involved with Forecast Demonstration Project (BoB) of WMO His contribution to WMO Technical Commission for Basic System for the period 2009-12 and 2012-2016 was recognized by WMO.
