A PhD thesis is the product of many years work researching, thinking, writing, and presenting. It involves:1. Project management: the PhD is an extended project that requires managing a very large body of research; planning a research schedule; applying "lean" techniques like recognising when to pivot; time-management; coordinating with stakeholders and colleagues; organising and participating in events; and producing a tangible and significant piece of work at the end.2. Communications: the task of the PhD is to find the most compelling way to communicate your thesis, and finding the appropriate structure and central argument is central to its success; a core part of the PhD process is the presentation of one's work to others for critical feedback, and this often involves presenting to large audiences. 3. Problem Solving: A PhD is, at its core, an extended problem-solving exercise. Identifying and resolving a problem at the heart of given field is the premise of a PhD. Philosophy in particular requires asking searching questions that identify subtle problems. 2018: I ran part of a new module - "World Philosophies" - for 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates, for which I designed the curriculum; developed lecture materials; delivered lectures; set and assessed assignments; and held tutorials. 2017: I ran two seminar groups for 1st year undergraduates in "Modern Readings in Philosophy", for which I designed seminar activities; led seminars; and assessed assignments.

I produced a range of research outputs, including think pieces, strategy documents, funding opportunities, research papers. I also edited manuscripts and funding proposals; collaborated in empirical research projects; contributed social media accounts and blog posts; helped run events.

As a team of volunteers responsible for a long-term web-content project, we collectively organised and delegated assignments, and edited each other’s work.
