I am an experienced cybersecurity and privacy lawyer - having spent 11 years in legal practice advising on legal issues associated with emerging technologies. I've worked for a range organisations in both private and public sectors including Commonwealth and NSW government departments, KPMG Law, Wotton + Kearney, as well as at technology-focused boutique law firms.I have advised clients ranging from pre-funding start-ups through to multi-nationals. My work covers the entirety of the personal information lifecycle, and I have acted as breach counsel for a number of large data breaches involving financial institutions and large government departments.I have also worked on data governance frameworks and implementation of artificial intelligence in your organisation - including providing advice on ISO and NIST AI risk management approaches. My academic research focuses on the legal risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence. This builds on my work in practice which included advising on governance frameworks for automated decision-making systems and managing data. I am widely published on privacy issues in a range of academic and professional journals.Over the years, public interest and pro bono legal practice has also been a large part of my work. I have volunteered at Kingsford Community Legal Centre and have sat on the board of non-profits. As part of my pro-bono work, i have appeared in the NSW local and district courts in criminal matters. I also actively engage with law reform processes, having made numerous submissions on a wide range of law reform proposals.
