I am a curious researcher who is mesmerized by the marvels of science. I remain excited by the immense innovation possibilities in the field of materials, sustainability and circularity. I have been fortunate to work on applied research and innovation projects in the field of manmade cellulosic fibres (Viscose, Rayon and Lyocell), olefin polymerization catalyst systems, polymerization technologies and specialty chemicals. This has been a very exciting journey of continuous learning, working on complex problems and sometimes simple solution. I have learnt that innovation is all about genuine curiosity, simplification, collaboration and above all humility to accept our ignorance. I am a PhD in chemical engineering and have spent more than 23 years in industrial research and technology development. In my current role in pulp and fibre business R&D in Grasim Industries Ltd, I oversee innovation and R&D projects related to new product development, process optimization, digitalization, sustainability, cost reduction and quality improvement. In this role I am responsible for ideating and supporting strategic initiatives to build and sustain competitive advantage. I have an interesting and impactful role where I contribute to structuring and executing a meticulously thought through innovation agenda directed toward business growth. I can proudly say that in our organization we could build one of the best research teams working in the field of man-made cellulosic fibres. As a R&D professional my focus has been on building strong and impactful R&D teams, commercializing innovative and disruptive ideas for consistent delivery of value, demonstrating use of data based approach for resolution of technical problems and driving innovation approaches like lateral thinking, ideation, rapid prototyping and data based simulationsIn my professional journey, I have been fortunate to work with some great mentors, who guided me and supported my ideas. I have been very lucky to always work with highly skilled, knowledgeable and capable colleagues who could help me to deliver on challenging assignments. I continuously learn and these learnings define my working style, which is characterized by accepting that I do not know everything and always listening to opinions but trusting data. I strongly believe that ordinary individuals form incredible teams and leadership is about trust and unflinchingly standing behind your team.
