I am pleased to be part of the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY team. DESY is a world-renowned accelerator center and a research institute of the Helmholtz Association, a publicly funded German national research center. I am employed by DESY's Photon Science Division, which oversees the operation of the world's most brilliant third-generation synchrotron radiation source, PETRA III. With a circumference of 2.3 km, PETRA III is the largest and most brilliant storage ring light source in the world, offering 25 beamlines for users.My expertise lies in: - Specialized in synthesizing novel materials and tracking in-situ phase transitions under extreme conditions! Example: From pencil point (graphite) to diamond!- Expertise in super-hard materials (e.g. diamond, cBN and spinel-type silicon nitride), engineering thermoplastics and their synthesis and characterization techniques.- Experience of working at the world's best synchrotron research facilities such as DESY Hamburg, Germany, ESRF France, Advanced Light Source (ALS) Berkeley, USA, Spring-8, Japan.- Familiarity with Six Sigma tools (DMAIC Green Belt trained), applicability in project execution, project management, scientific coordination (e.g. organizing international workshops and symposia) and building or setting up the new research laboratory / facility.- 30+ publications in peer-reviewed international journals (including Nature), 25+ oral/poster presentations at international conferences or workshops and one US patent application (granted).- 15+ years of experience in materials research and development (ceramics, polymers and composites) and hands-on experience in materials synthesis, processing and characterization.
