EPICAM study - Paediatric Research Ward, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, MalawiCerebral malaria is a major public health concern with a high rate of morbidity and mortality. Early detection of cerebral swelling improves the rates of survival and long-term neurological outcome. In low-middle income countries (LMIC), access to imaging modalities is extremely limited. The research focuses on determining the suitability of hand-held digital retinal fundoscopy to diagnose brain swelling as defined by MRI in children through changes in the Arteriole and venule diameter ratio (A/V‐ratio).
