Based in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law. The Education and Social Work Department comprises of general education, early childhood, childhood and youth studies, Initial Teacher Education Social Work and English Language Support. We offer flexible and needs based Continuing Professional Development for teachers, education facilitators and social workers at both of our campuses and also 'on the job' for teachers, education facilitators and social workers alike. I am the Subject Group Leader for the Education Subject Group at Teesside University. This group contains the academic discipline areas of Education, Early Childhood and Youth. I did my first degree and teacher training at the University of Sunderland and my MA Education at Teesside University. Currently studying for my Doctorate in Education with Durham University. My areas of expertise include language and literacy development, special educational needs (particularly specific learning difficulties) and inclusive educational practices.
