ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONSProf AJ Smit is a Professor in Strategic Management and International Business at the GSBL. He obtained his B Comm (1972), B Comm Hons (1973), M Comm in Economics (1974) form University of Free Sate and a Master of Science (specialising in International Economics and International Management) from the University of Wisconsin Business School (Madison). In 1991 he obtained a certificate in Systems Thinking and Strategic Modelling at the London School of Business and in 2007 he completed his DBL dissertation entitled: International Competitiveness: A Synthesis between Comparative and Competitive Advantage.Since he joined the SBL he lectured on both the MBL and executive programmes. He has lecturing experience in Economics (micro and macro), Business Statistics, Quantitative Analysis and Decision making, International Business Finance, Investment and Portfolio Analysis, Strategic Management, Strategy Dynamics and International Business. He is currently lecturing Economics and the Global Business Environment and Strategy in a Global Context on the MBL and Advanced Executive Programmes.
