Dr. P. Bala Srinivasan, Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, is supervising my doctoral study in welding engineering. My research was done at BHEL's Welding Research Institute (WRI) in Tiruchirappalli. In addition, at "M/s Chennai Metco LTD, Chennai," I finished my metallurgical characterization work on my welded samples.  Preparing sub-assembly & part Drawings for the concept model in CATIA. Designing the air intake system (Air Cleaner, Pre-Cleaner) based on the engine data information.  Designing (metal, plastic, smooth bend, powder coating) air intake system pipes based on restriction value, supplier end cost and compactness.  Designing mounting brackets using Design manuals (IS materials, Standard dimensions, load, material properties, minimum coat, and compact) and discussing bracket life with the CAE analysis team. Vehicle fitment approval and resolution of fitment issues in the prototype vehicle. Responsible for verifying the fitment of Vehicle DMUs for the Cad Model.  Creating prototype samples from the supplier end, coordinating with the testing team for sample validation. Examining the Air Intake System with a water dipping test (to determine the air flow in the pipe). Drafting, Bill of Materials, Preparing ESK (Including Tightening torque). Engaging in value engineering and cost reduction projects. Has to communicate with vendors for the development of new parts, as required by the R&D/engineering function.  Resolving the issues (water entry into the Air Cleaner, a high Restriction value, a reduction in the number of joints, a change in the air cleaner's position, and an angle of approach) with the Engine Testing team, the Vehicle Testing team and the suppliers.
