I am a preventive cardiologist and executive director of the Gaples Institute, an educational nonprofit with the mission of advancing the role of nutrition and lifestyle in medicine. The nutrition course for health professionals that I direct at the Gaples Institute was recently recognized by the White House and is now required in the curriculum of 9 medical schools and has been completed by over 7,000 clinicians.I am an Adjunct Associate Professor of Nutrition at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where I teach a course to Harvard public health and medical students on Integrating Nutrition into Clinical medicine: The Role of Health Professionals as Change Agents.I lecture internationally in venues that range from Thailand to the Royal Society of Medicine in London to Washington, DC, to forums including medical societies, national Food as Medicine conferences, and a wide range of public-facing programs.
