I am a media & communications practitioner with three decades working across the media & education sectors in Australia and abroad. During 2021, I was on contract to the Australia Pacific Security College at the Australian National University to design and write a course for Pacific Island journalists on national and regional security reporting. The pilot program for Solomon Island journalists has now been completed and we look forward to bringing the training to our colleagues in other Pacific states.During 2021, I was also engaged by UNDP on an 8-month project designing and writing the first courses for a new media & public relations diploma at the Maldives National University.International clients include the United Nations Development Programme, UN Women and GFA Consulting (Germany). I conducted participatory training workshops with youth advocates recruited by UN Women PNG for the Safe Cities Programme. The major output is a Facilitators Guide to be used by advocates to run Gender Based Violence (GBV) workshops in schools and communities. As part of the project, I conducted media training on gender sensitivity to assist the University of Papua New Guinea incorporate GBV into their media curriculum.
