About Steven Burns

As a leading in developing and implementing energy policy in the US government, I have built an international reputation as one of the foremost experts on energy security and clean energy issues. With the National Security Council and USAID, I have made significant impacts on global energy security, sustainable energy solutions, and critical infrastructure protection. My talent for cultivating relationships with high-ranking government and private-sector stakeholders allows me to build consensus and create an effective path for multinational, multidisciplinary solutions. My ability to orchestrate high-level negotiations and establish strategic partnerships at the regional and global levels is backed by my exceptional private-sector experience. Working directly with corporate clients to drive sales and business development provided me with the tools to deliver persuasive presentations and close new deals. This experience was invaluable in enabling me to continuously grow USAID programs, which were subject to stringent funding requirements. In addition to bringing together high-ranking officials and executives, I am also highly adept at leading cross-functional teams and providing the motivation and coaching necessary to achieve ambitious goals to create a resilient, sustainable energy infrastructure.
