Dr Subhasis Nanda is an Assistant Professor of English at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad. He received his award of PhD (ELE) at the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. He also did his B.Ed (English), PGDTE, M.Phil (ELE) at the same university. He is interested in, Teaching materials for underachieving learners, Teaching English in Multilingual Contexts and Transfer of Language Skills. He has presented several papers in seminars and conferences of national and international reputation. He also has a knack of recording and translating folklores and other forms of folk literature. He believes these are a rich resource to be preserves for the future generations. His PhD is an exploratory study titled" Exploring the Transferability of Thinking Skills from L1 to L2", which was carried out with an objective of understanding the cognitive load of rural and deprived learners, when it comes to advanced level of communication in English. His MPhil study looks at understanding the impact of text variables on reading comprehension. The other two degrees; B.Ed (English) and PG Diploma in Teaching English, makes his a trained and competent teacher of English. He has also co-authored some books in the field of ELT. He is inclined to work for the learners who are deprived of the resources and facilities. He is trying to understand the role of various factors on how to bridge the gap between these students and academic expectations, so that the drop out rate can be minimized. Thus, most of his publications head in that direction. As an academician, he teaches course like Critical Reading, Academic writing, Workplace communication, Analytical essay writing, Teaching Language through Literature, Public speaking, Business Communication and Soft Skills as a part of various UG and PG level courses.
