Dr. Sudipto Chaki is an academician and administrator with experience of more than 20 years in Engineering Education. Presently, he is the Dean-Administration and a Professor of the Automobile Engineering Department at MCKV Institute of Engineering (NAAC Accredited A-Grade Autonomous Institute), West Bengal, India. Dr. Chaki has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Jadavpur University, an M.Tech Degree in Manufacturing Technology from the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research, Kolkata, and a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed University), India. Dr. Chaki has wide experience in curriculum development, examination conduction, branding, and industry-institute collaboration. He served as the Head of the Automobile Engineering Department from 2016-2020. He established and maintained cutting-edge industry-attached laboratories with leading industries like Eicher Motors, BOSCH, etc., organized several workshops/ FDPs/ seminars, and acted as institutional coordinator of the Quality Enhancement in Engineering Education (QEEE) program of MHRD. The Automobile Engineering department received NBA accreditation under his leadership. The present responsibilities of Dr. Chaki include maintaining smooth coordination between administration and academic departments, monitoring NAAC and NBA accreditation processes, looking after general facilities, planning manpower requirements, organizing selection committees for recruitment/ promotion of staff members, planning and execution of infrastructure development, monitoring placement related activities, maintaining compliances related to affiliating and regulatory bodies, arranging meetings for the various statutory committee of the institute.Dr. Chaki was a recipient of the University Silver Medal for securing the second position in his Master’s degree. He is a motivated learner and educator in the field of Manufacturing Technology and Management. He has authored several research papers in SCI and Scopus-indexed journals on laser material processing, welding, and other manufacturing processes, application of soft computing techniques, swarm intelligence, artificial neural networks, and traditional and non-traditional optimization methods.
