I was a member of a team within the Brain Injury Group, validating and characterising a novel in vitro rodent model of traumatic brain injury using the organotypic hippocampal slice culture. My particular role was to characterise the cytoskeletal and microglial response to injury using histological and immunohistological methods. My work demonstrated a role for strain, rather than strain rate, in the production of cytoskeletal injury. My data contributed to one major publication and a number of presentations at international conferences.
