As the Leader of the Research Team of the project ‘Social networks, labour transactions and outcomes: A theoretical and empirical study of migrant workers and their employers in South Asia’ I did overall field work, quality control and finance related management for the project. Worked as a Research Officer for IDPM in 'Finance for the Poor and the Poorest' research project. This explores what poor people need and practice in terms of financial needs and services! The project also attempted to explore how these needs can be managed by a variety of financial institutions in future! Based in Koraon, Allahabad District, Uttar Pradesh during the research period I maintained ‘financial diaries’ of 28 selected households in five hamlets of two villages conducting interviews… Show more Worked as a Research Officer for IDPM in 'Finance for the Poor and the Poorest' research project. The project also attempted to explore how these needs can be managed by a variety of financial institutions in future! Based in Koraon, Allahabad District, Uttar Pradesh during the research period I maintained ‘financial diaries’ of 28 selected households in five hamlets of two villages conducting interviews every fortnight. In addition to this, I undertook a detailed qualitative survey of 44 households focused on financial histories of households, their financial behaviors and preferences and did interviews with the government officers, employees of various private financial institutions, business persons and contractors active in the area. Seeing the qualitative and relevant findings of this has been made as a longitudinal research work with follow-ups in every couple of years since 2002. Show less
