Currently working for Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Responsibility for managment of the Road Safety Programme on the National Road Network, development of standards and guidance, national strategy snd policy development, research and training. As a member of CEDR I chair the Safe Smart Highways research group for SHADAR and SAFEPATH projects. I have a PhD in applied transport statistical modeling. My research developed road safety evaluation methods for cyclists using open source transport planning software to estimate levels of cycling. At Edinburgh Napier University I worked as a Research Fellow and I lectured in mathematics. I worked on H2020 SUMP implementation projects, Prosperity and Park4Sump at the Transport Research Institute.My research interests focus on aspects of road safety concerning vulnerable road users, spatial analysis, sustainable transport and statistics.I have a background in transport design, project management and road safety having worked in private practice for over 14 years in the Republic of Ireland and UK.
