Hi I am a Dutch national living in the UK and have done so for the past 30+ years. I am married and have two grown up children. I loving baking, walking, the outdoors and generally am a very sociable person who enjoys spending time with friends, family and colleagues. I work at the University of Hull and have held posts as an interim Program Director for Working with Children, Young People and Families as well as lecturing on this program. I was the Program director for the Early Childhood Studies degree as well as a lecturer on this program. In the past I delivered lectures in China and Hong Kong on a variety of subjects. Delivering Early Childhood studies modules at undergraduate and post graduate level. Delivery of individualised training packages for schools and early years settings worldwide on parental engagement, emergent child led curriculum, observational techniques, policy and practice and a variety of wider skills. Undertaking Consultancy for Early Years providers in the UK and Hong Kong. I enjoy working from home but also really enjoy being in the thick of it with students and staff during my working days.I am a member of the ECSDN and through this, i have been part of the Research Knowledge Exchange working group.I am currently the External examiner for the University of Bath and previously stepped in to be the external examiner for the University of Suffolk. I also have undertaken a Validation for the new Early Childhood program for the University of East Anglia and have been the External Examiner for Oxford Brooks and their Early Childhood Studies programmes for 4 years. I really enjoy working with wider universities and sharing knowledge between academics and practitioners.I completed my EdD in Early Childhood at Sheffield University in 2024, the research has a focus on parental values and the impact these values have on choices parents make for their children, this research is situated in Hong Kong .
