After studying nutritional sciences in Jena and Madrid, I received my PhD in agricultural sciences from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) (PhD thesis: Environmental protection with knife and fork - The ecological rucksack of nutrition in Germany, https://t.ly/owHRI). Until 2021, I was employed as research associate at the Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences at the MLU - from 2015 to 2021 as head of the Innovation Office of the Competence Cluster for Nutrition and Cardiovascular Health (nutriCARD). Since 2021, I am the CEO of the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Economics (INL). The INL operates in the field of environmental and health sustainability assessment of products and processes in the AgriFood sector and works on behalf of ministries, authorities and companies in the agri-food industry (production, processing, logistics, retail, out-of-home market, mass catering, gastronomy). We use science-based monitoring and optimisation tools developed in-house to provide customer-specific data for food retail, food wholesale and food service (susDISH-gastro, susDISH-LEH, nutriRECIPE, Planet Health Conformity-PHC, FOODPRiNT4U). In addition, I am a Collaborator of the Global Burden Disease Study (GBD) at the Institute of Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, USA (since 2016), a jury member of the platform "Ernährungswandel" of NAHhaft e. V.
