Dr. Utpal Majee is a research enthusiast working predominantly on groundwater Hydro-geochemistry and Contamination Hydrology employing biogeochemical and environmental tracers, such as Stable Isotopes (d2H, d18O, d13C, d15N), Chloride, Total Alkalinity, etc. Additionally, his work also includes human health risk assessment, microbiology, soil pollution and remediation studies.Lastly, he accomplished highly competitive SERB-National Postdoctoral Fellowship from the esteemed Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, where he worked on the current environmental problems such as MSW dump and leachate contamination into groundwater and human health risk assessment. Utpal’s PhD research titled “Effects of coal bed water on soil environment and development of management strategies”, from Visva-Bharati University, where he did a qualitative assessment of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Co-produced water, Reverse Osmosis (RO) treated water incubation studies in soil nutrients speciation, also CBM produced water-affected soil studies. Additionally study on soil management in field and lab conditions using various amendments in line of publication. Currently, Dr. Utpal Majee is a Project Scientist II at the National Center for Earth Science Studies, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India at Trivandrum, Kerala, India. There his research focuses on the Origin, Evolution, and Water Potential of Natural Springs in India.
