Obeid Specialized Hospital is a 120 bed tertiary care hospital located in the heart of the capital city of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. It has a monthly turnover of 3000-4000 patients. It was established in 1970 making it one of the oldest private hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I work as a pediatrics and neonatology consultant and also manage inpatient and out patient departments. My workload includes nearly 1200-1500 patients every month. Our diagnostic and surgical facilities in the hospital are equipped with the latest and state of the art equipment.

Various locums working in different positions in the hospital but most of the responsibility was delegated under the title of Assistant Consultant. Kingdom Hospital is a very modern hospital with all the latest equipment and technology available to diagnose and treat patients. My work included taking care of children and pediatric cases including neonatal intensive care. I worked in the A& E department of pediatrics also and carried out diagnostic procedures, along with taking care of the in- and outpatient patients.

I was in charge of the neonatology department and treated pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient offices handling up to 40-50 patients per day which included follow up of chronic cases like asthma, epilepsy etc.

Al-Yamamah hospital is a state of the art, largest maternity hospital in Riyadh in terms of patient turnover. On an average 15,000 deliveries are performed every year. The pediatrics department has a bed strength of 50 including an N.I.C.U. where more than 12 babies can be ventilated at a time. The staff consists of well trained nurses, residents, specialists and British and American trained consultants. A variety of patients are managed efficiently who are suffering from different pediatric conditions. Teaching activities of department includes lectures, bedside discussions, general club, seminars, clinical and mortality meetings etc. I have observed, studies and gained expertise in performing various specialized techniques and procedures such as ventilation of preterm babies, putting in chest drains, umbilical artery and venous caths, ABGs, exchange transfusion, lumbar puncture, ventricular taps and draining plural effusions etc. Working more than 4 years in neonatal unit gave me wide experience in treating neonates apart from general pediatrics. In terms of rotations I have worked more than seven years in pediatrics, I.C.U., N.I.C.U., and P.I.C.U. in Al-Yamamah hospital.

I worked for six years in the hospital of which three years were spent in the nursery. MMCH has 200 pediatric beds and a 60 bedded nursery. It is equipped with state of the art technology, has an excellent radiology and laboratory backup facilities, and is recognized by the Arab Board of Pediatrics. I gained extensive experience in general pediatrics and neonatal intensive care.
