Beyond my personal passion and commitment to working in the field of education, my overall educational background and extensive professional experience have both provided me with the foundation and skills necessary to perform at a high level in a variety of job positions. Regarding my professional experience, I have not only taught many different courses in higher education involving such areas as composition/critical thinking, literature, and research and included OER material and use of DEI, but have also worked extensively outside the classroom in a variety of different roles including director, project manager/coordinator, consultant/trainer, researcher, and more. As far as my educational backgroud is concerned, I hold a bachelor's and master’s degree in English and also a doctoral degree in the area of Higher Education. Additionally, I earned a Certificate in Higher Education Administration as part of my doctorate that involved the completion of six different courses such as Curriculum and Program Design and Assessment, Financial and Fiscal Management in Higher Education, and Organization and Administration in Higher Education amongst others. My dissertation focused on the impact that pedagogical interventions involving affective "soft" skills have on student learning and was titled: "Affective Pedagogy: A Case Study Describing the Impact of Affective Instructional Interventions in a Composition Course." Other notable recognitions include the Effective Online Teaching Practices certifacte as well as completion of the AI Series modules both hosted by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), as well as a Quality Matters certificate related to the evaluation of online courses.
