Lawyer, academic, best-selling author and Director, Center for Research in Law and Business.Dr Bewaji holds a PhD degree in Law from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom specializing in Securities and Financial Regulations Law. He was tutored at the prestigious International Institute for Legal Drafting of the University of Tulane, New Orleans USA. He is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Dr Bewaji has practiced widely as an attorney, consultant and transactional advisor with extensive exposure to case-law, legislation and field-work research in both civil and common law jurisdictions.He was a member of the Federal House of Representatives of the Nigerian National Assembly for eight years, half of which was spent serving as a Minority Leader and member, National Assembly Body of Principal Officers. During the said period he was an outstanding member of very important Congressional Committees such as the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; Committee on Privatization and Commercialization; Niger Delta Committee; House Committee on Solid Minerals and the Ad-Hoc Committee on the boundary dispute between the Republic of Cameroun and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He also served as Chairman of some Special Committees of the Federal House of Representatives, such as the House Special Committee on the Review of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency law and the House Special Committee on the Judgment of the International Court of Justice in the case of the Republic of Cameroun v Federal Republic of Nigeria. For two consecutive terms spanning a period of seven years (1999-2003, 2003-2006), he was a highly respected member of the influential National Assembly Joint Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.He is the author of the research textbook on financial frauds titled "Insider Trading in Developing Jurisdictions" published by Routledge, available worldwide.
