Research FellowWellman Center For Photomedicine Aug 1995 - Sep 1998I performed research and published data in the Annals of Surgery with my team demonstrating the utility of a high power rapidly scanning continuous wave (cw)CO2 laser to debride flame burns bloodlessly, followed by successful placement and viability of skin grafts in an animal model. The research also led to a human trial which demonstrated feasibility of such an approach with acceptable engraftment rates. Further research on debridement of chemical burns (sulfur mustard) using such a laser were also demonstrated to be successful.
