Field Supervisor is responsible for the quality of data collected in the field. To ensure interviewers will produce data of the highest possible quality he must maintain a motivated, effective and efficient field force.The Field Supervisor’s key focus areas are as follows:Ensure highest quality of data is collected at all times.Guides Field Staff in accordance to the company’s set rules and regulations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. SCHEDULINGDevelop, implement and maintain systems to control work-flow through field departmentAgree and meet deadlines for each projectSupervise the preparation of itineraries and cash requestsKnow the whereabouts of team leaders and interviewers at all timesMonitor status, stage and progress of all projectsInform relevant staff of any delays in good time2. ASSEMBLING FIELD TEAMSAssemble field teams for briefingEnsure briefings are adequate through checking of pilot interviewsSet deadlines, agree itineraries and check progress on a regular basis3. COST CONTROLInvolved in preparation of budgets for fieldworkMinimize resource wastage by improving and integrating systems in order to improve quality of work, save time and minimize manpower without compromising on qualityEnsure cost effective operation of all projectsInspect expense claims and travel expenses carefully and approve Control usage of consumables and look for opportunities to reduce costs4. SUPERVISIONBe aware of sample size, area, strike rate, etc. for each project and monitor progressAssess performance of interviewers on a project by project basisProvide immediate support to fieldwork users5. QUALITY CONTROLConduct ad-hoc/surprise checks on interviewersIdentify and encourage individuals with potential for progressionIdentify weaknesses and training needsAdminister the field work quality incentive scheme6. ACCOUNTABILITYResponsible for the quality of data collected, performance of field staff, expenses and travel costs, quality of fieldwork
