The National Disability Authority is the statutory body with a duty to provide evidence-informed advice to government on disability, and to promote Universal Design.As Director, I am responsible for the overall management and development of the NDA to effectively deliver on its strategic objectives and statutory functions. Includes building and maintaining key relationships, both externally with Government Departments, other agencies, organisations and stakeholders relevant to its functions in disability and Universal Design, as well as internally among staff of the Authority. Also ensuring the NDA is effectively consulting and engaging with persons with disabilities and other stakeholders so that its advice benefits from the learning from their experience and their expertise.Director provides strong leadership to high-performing Senior Management Team and NDA staff to achieve the vision, mission and objectives of the NDA.

Head of the Policy and Research department at the National Disability Authority, the statutory organisation with a duty to provide evidence-informed advice to government on disability, and to promote Universal Design. Role comprised management of research and policy advice professionals who undertake and commission research in relation to disability, in particular to guide and underpin policy and practice. The unit also develops and co-ordinates policy advice to Ministers, government departments and public bodies in relation to disability.Member of NDA's Senior Management Group, providing executive leadership and oversight for operations, finance, governance and HR matters in the organisation, while also working to guide and develop NDA's strategic vision.

Ucd

Established and led the operations of one of UCD’s largest flagship research institutes, comprising over 70 academic members. Directed operations of UCD Earth Institute across multiple functions (finance, HR, capital infrastructure, governance, communications, innovation, reporting etc.), delivering high standards of service to academic members and ensuring return on capital and recurrent investment. Defined and executed the Institute's strategy and delivered progress against objectives year-on-year. Built and led team of knowledge experts to deliver UCD Earth Institute services and operations. Managed and motivated team through periods of organisational change. Negotiated with and influenced senior academic and management personnel to secure commitment to strategic goals.

Management of business planning and development processes for programmes of strategic importance within UCD. Management of collaborative research initiatives and major funding proposals. Demonstrated excellent relationship management across a variety of stakeholder groups.

Member of the UCD Conway Institute's directorate, with responsibility for the strategic planning and execution of communications and public engagement activities, as well as oversight of programmes of graduate education and information provision to funding agencies.

Starting with this organisation as a research executive, rose to Director of Research with responsibility for the commission, execution and dissemination of market research projects across a variety of sectors, managing external providers and internal staff to deliver projects within financial and time constraints. Made policy and strategic recommendations at senior executive level based on customer insights and in keeping with client objectives and values. Client portfolio covered multiple sectors including: financial services, FMCG, government departments/agencies, media services and HEIs

Responsibility for the conception, design and implementation of aseries of ancient history courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Also pastoral and administrative responsibility for students at all levels, as well as assessment and examination duties.
