I am a professor, advisor, administrator, and analyst who loves to teach and learn. As an educator, I believe my strengths are in breaking down complex political and economic issues, understanding the relationships between security, politics, and global markets, and communicating crucial information from the political world and global economy to students in a clear and concise manner. I have taught and researched in the areas of international and comparative politics, with special attention on American foreign policy, national security, and the global economy. I am fortunate to have worked in both public and private higher education, within both community college and university systems. My administrative and advising efforts have centered on building academic programs and developing young adults into confident and competent student leaders. This is the most rewarding part of being in a higher education career, seeing students graduate and succeed in ways they never considered possible when they first started college. I played a key role in developing the curriculum for Anderson University's growing programs in national security studies and international relations. I served as the program director and primary academic advisor for both of these interdisciplinary fields. I was also the first director of the Anderson University Center for National Security Studies. I have served on university committees regarding strategic review of finance and undergraduate programs. I try to model lifelong learning for my students and colleagues, and to stretch myself with more challenging leadership roles in higher education. This is what brought me to Hardin-Simmons University in 2017, and in 2019 to Delta College. I now serve as the division administrator for several academic programs in the social sciences and approximately 30 full time faculty.
