FHL Vive Center was founded in 2017 thanks to a generous donation from the FHL Foundation and HTC Vive. The mission of the Center is to promote both fundamental research in the cross-disciplinary fields of AR, VR, and AI, and foster new industrial collaboration and emerging technology transfer at Berkeley. The Center serves as the coordinator of the research and fund raising activities of AR, VR, and AI at Berkeley. I am honored to serve as its founding Executive Director to lead the creation of several interesting programs and its continuing expansion in the coming years.

At Berkeley, I have the opportunity to serve as a senior research staffer for several multi-university research initiative (MURI) projects in EECS Department, funded by US Army and Navy. Under these programs, I work with the faculty, researchers, and students to conduct advanced research in the areas of computer vision, signal processing, and robotics.

The Center for Augmented Cognition supports Berkeley faculty and students in their research on new computing paradigms and methodologies of human cognition modeling, human-computer interaction, and human-robot collaboration through augmented and virtual reality technologies.

Grafty is a stealth-mode startup focusing on advanced digital media analytics and cloud applications. The company was founded in 2015 by three veteran entrepreneurs with proven records in the development of disruptive technologies and products. Working closely with our enterprise partners in sports and fitness market, our first product is a sports social network with built-in intelligent analytics that helps maximize player and team performance and fundamentally changes the way sports/fitness coaching is done.

Virtual Reality at Berkeley is a student group dedicated to bringing virtual reality to the campus community. Our club provides students with access to virtual reality equipment and training and charters project teams to explore the applications and implications of virtual reality in diverse fields through research and development. By providing access to hardware and expertise, we aim to lower the barriers to experiencing and developing virtual reality technology. We are partnering with established labs on campus to investigate virtual and augmented reality as tools for robotics control systems, visualization of complex data, and as an interface for the future. We engage with the campus community through public demo days and infosessions.

The AEMR COI is designed to include all government and non-government organizations or entities holding a significant stake in mixed reality activities, including smart avatar development, augmented and virtual reality research development, and any mixed reality related technology. The goal of the AEMR COI is to explore, demonstrate and prototype augment- ed and virtual reality technology, applications, standards, use cases, and to provide appropriate guidance with recommendations to ensure effective and efficient community interoperability and collaboration. This collaborative forum is organized into functional Working Groups, with members often participating in multiple Working Groups. The AEMR Working groups are focused on practical and useful deliverables including GAP analysis, technology assessments, matching technologies with user requirements, interoperability, functional standards and frameworks.The TAWG will document, share, and advance the latest technology in mixed reality. Members will share the latest ongoing activities in augmented and virtual reality technology and discuss next steps and where the technology is going. As the first employee and part of the founding team, I served various functions at Atheer. My primary responsibilities were developing 3D sensing and augmented reality algorithms for Atheer's wearable 3D platform. My team developed a real-time 3D natural gesture recognition algorithm on ARM-based Android platforms that was regarded as the best mobile gesture recognition solution. Our proprietary augmented reality algorithms provided industry-leading low latency and accurate 3D localization performance. In 2014, I also served as Acting COO that oversaw the overall operations of the company from Biz Dev, Marketing, Fund Raising, to Exec Hiring.
