The beauty in the subject of design is that it is not rigid. It can be interpreted from many perspectives and can be solved in many different ways. Of course, there are some fundamentals that have to be there in order to create a successful design; however, each person can have their own touches so that the design reflects their personality. That is why my teaching philosophy is to encourage students not to be uniform, and to find their own voice, style and touch to differentiate them from the crowd. If you think about most successful interior designers and architects, you automatically know what it is that makes them different.
