Appointed as the first health service Chief Transformation Officer in Victoria, he established a Transformation Office that combined strategy, service planning, transformation management and continuous improvement. Andrew drove organisational transformation of Australia’s largest public health service, embedding McKinsey execution and transformation science at a time of unprecedented demand and financial challenge in the sector, and guided organisation agility and transformation throughout COVID-19. Andrew led the establishment of one of the State’s first and largest local Public Health Units to coordinate community COVID-19 responses.Previously Andrew built a high performing senior leadership team overseeing Acute, Sub-acute and Community that transformed clinical care at Monash Health, shifting care from the hospital to the community. He developed the Registrar Professional Development Program to address the lack of situational leadership and front-line management skills provided to the junior medical workforce. Andrew also founded the “Hands on Health” program for disadvantaged and refugee secondary school students through Monash University collaborations, winning the Monash University 2010 Vice Chancellor’s Award for Social Inclusion, and the 2015 Distinguished Alumni award. Having experienced third world medicine in the 80’s, he was inspired to address healthcare access inequity and led him to establish the Monash Refugee Health and Wellbeing Service to the point of being nationally regarded as a template for regional refugee health care.
