As a Full Professor of Strategy and Performance, I help people become more effective business leaders and more thoughtful and reflective individuals.As a scholar, I work on advancing a complex systems view of strategy and performance - the idea that improving the performance of organizations is an ongoing emergent process, which is inseparable from understanding the organizations themselves, their environment, and their historical and social context. I conduct and publish original research, supervise 5 doctoral students, teach on 8 postgraduate and 2 doctoral programmes, and speak at major international conferences.As an advisor, I help managers and executives think through the range of issues that shape organizational performance and strategic change. I do this in two ways: a) leading in-depth deliberative conversations to identify meaningful small-scale interventions for complex and intractable business problems;b) facilitating workshops on strategy execution and performance management in multi-stakeholder environments.In this capacity, I have worked with a wide range of public and private sector organizations, including HSBC, Sport England, Aer Rianta International, Barratt Developments, South African Airways, Jaguar Land Rover, NHS, and two UK Police Forces. I also speak at various industrial events and conferences.As an education professional, I help people navigate the world of global business education and make informed choices that serve their long-term career and life goals.
