Dr Khalfan graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 1981 having been accepted from high school with a full scholarship. Amongst her various achievements at medical school were obtaining 1st Class Certificates in Physiology and Biochemistry.With a passion for Anaesthesiology, she pursued specialization in the United Kingdom and then Canada at the University of British Columbia. Aniz is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.Dr Khalfan was Staff Anaesthesilogist at Providence Health Care, Mount St Joseph Hospital, Vancouver. She held the position of Chief of Anesthesia at St Mary’s Hospital Vancouver 2003-2004With a long and successful career in hospital medicine, she pursued her passion for chronic pain. Toward that end she was honored with a grant from the Royal College of Physicians in 2013. Her practice at The CHANGEpain Clinic included delivery of CpC’s Core program and as well as the IV lidocaine and Ketamine infusions in the clinic.Dr Khalfan has been involved in Consulting and Setting up of various Private Surgical Clinics in Vancouver.Dr Khalfan with Dr Mark Godley was co-founder of the False Creek Surgical Centre in 1995.She is very involved in teaching and the community. Dr Khalfan is an Examiner for the Medical Council of Canada. Aniz has held various leadership positions for the Agakhan Health Board of BC including Health and Wellness Lead and Lead for the Cardiac Initiative.Amongst her other community services are being the President of Rotary Club of West Vancouver, Membership Chair and Website editor and was re elected as President Elect Rotary Club 2021-2022With a daughter having graduated as a a Medical Doctor and a son a Physicist, Aniz is looking to enjoy some time with her husband in their shared passion for the arts and culture and reconnecting with her roots in Kenya to support health and education there
