I have more than 20 years experience of working in psychiatry. I have worked as a consultant for eating disorders service, psychiatric intensive care unit, general inpatient unit and community psychiatry. My clinical interest lies in Medicolegal psychiatry and functional approaches to treating mental disorders. I have been actively seeking experience in medical management and have held various positions including manager for doctors in training, clinical lead for Adult Psychiatry, clinical director of mental health in Scotland for an NHS Trust and now Clinical Director for Mental Health and Specialised Services in Queensland, Australia. On the way, I also founded a company that delivers medico-legal reports across Scotland. I have led many developments and improvement initiatives and am always looking for ways to improve service delivery in a safe, effective and efficient manner. I have co-founded Brisbane Psychiatry Centre which offers a boutique service for independent psychiatric reports and functional psychiatry. My quest for patient empowerment has led me to develop NEEJE, a web app for consenting for medical procedures to improve equity in healthcare and reduce complaints and litigation by aligning with the AHPRA regulations for practicing doctors.
