Dr. Ankit Jose is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Cochin, India who specializes in the treatment of complex knee, hip, and shoulder issues, joint preservation procedures, and all sports-related injuries.Dr. Ankit Jose has completed several fellowships at top institutes both in Europe and India. He is well recognized for his contributions to the field of orthopaedics and is considered an expert both in minimally invasive techniques as well as novel biologic techniques, and was trained under Professor Dr. Ramon Cugat, the European pioneer of biological treatments.Dr Ankit Jose graduated top of his class from Fr Muller Medical College, Mangalore, and went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery from the same institution. He then pursued a fellowship in joint replacement under Dr. Guruva Reddy at one of the country's top orthopedic centers and received invaluable training in primary, complex, revision, and robotic replacement. During this pivotal period in his career, he became aware of the shortage of cartilage and joint preservation techniques in India, which motivated him to pursue a double fellowship in arthroscopy in India and Europe. Dr Ankit received extensive training under Dr. David V. Rajan who many consider as the pioneer of Indian arthroscopy and this enhanced his skills in complex joint preservation techniques.Dr Ankit developed a strong interest in arthroscopy during the early days of his career, but at the same time, noticed that there were insufficient hip arthroscopies and joint preservation procedures performed in his home country. With a strong desire to improve people's lives, he sought a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy under the guidance of the world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Ramon Cugat at the Instituto Cugat in Barcelona, Spain. At this state-of-the-art premier institute, he gained invaluable expertise in treating football players and athletes with complex sports injuries. His main area of interest was hip preservation because India lacked adequate training in this particular area. He spent his time learning hip arthroscopy so that he could bridge this gap in India.
