Professor Anna Birch FRSA is a theatre and film director who combines scholarly research with her professional experience. She pursues her feminist performance and recovery project to challenge the systematic erasure of women’s experience. Using site specific performance, outdoor screenings, marches and processions, book publishing and walks she creates artworks where participation, celebration and social justice are paramount. Her focus on eighteenth century human rights campaigner Mary Wollstonecraft who lived and worked on Newington Green near where Anna lives has generated numerous performance and film events worldwide.
