Anna is a Director in GSK’s Global Respiratory Value Evidence & Outcomes team developing value evidence strategies for early-late phase pipeline assets. Anna is Co-Chair of the Global Physicians Community for 2019/2020; a GSK Fellow and member of GSK’s Nephrology Safety Panel. Anna joined GSK as an R&D Esprit Associate in 2014 developing pharma leadership experience on three 1-year rotations as: • Director of Translational Medicine & Clinical Investigation Lead for FTIH/PhIIa development assets (Immunoinflammation, Stevenage, UK - 2014/2015)• Medical Director, Safety Evaluation & Risk Management, GCSP for PhIII development assets (Collegeville, USA - 2016)• Director, Respiratory VEO (Brentford, UK - 2017)Anna off-boarded from Esprit in February 2018.Before joining GSK Anna was a Wellcome Trust Intermediate Clinical Fellow & Honorary Renal Consultant in Edinburgh (2009-2014) researching the role for complement in endothelial cell injury and therapeutic cytoprotection strategies. Work in Anna’s PhD (1999-2002) had identified mutations in the complement regulatory proteins (Factor H, Factor I & CD46) as genetic causes of atypical Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (aHUS) for which she was recognised with the Renal Association’s AEG Raine Young Investigator award in 2005. Anna did a post-doctoral fellowship at Washington University in St Louis, USA supported by a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar award in 2005. Here she was part of a multinational team who identified mutations in TREX1 as a genetic cause of rare brain disease called RVCL.Anna graduated MBBS(Hons), BMedSci(Hons) in 1995, MRCP in 1998 and received her CCT in Renal Medicine in 2009 following post-graduate training in Newcastle, Edinburgh & Fife.INTERESTS: Respiratory, Value Evidence and Outcomes, Health Economics, Nephrology, Translational Medicine, Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome, Complement-related renal disease, Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Endothelial cell biology.
