Dr. Anne Hussain is a naturopathic doctor and author of "The Period Literacy Handbook" (2024). She helps menstruators achieve clarity and agency over their PCOS, periods, fertility, and hormonal health. Her personal experience with polycystic ovary syndrome and lack of menstrual education growing up in Karachi, Pakistan drives her passion to empower and educate her patients and community to practice self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-advocacy. She practices a hybrid model of care, in-person out of Sharon/East Gwillimbury near Newmarket and Bradford, ON and via telemedicine to those living across Ontario. She is a passionate menstrual health advocate and has appeared on Canadian national television (CTV News and Global). She teaches on topics pertaining to menstrual health, PCOS, and plant-based nutrition to clinicians and to the public in Canada and Pakistan, focusing not only on individual health but also structural barriers to health. She has collaborated on educational materials for not-for-profit organizations such as Moon Time Connections and The Period Purse. She has been a supervising clinician for Naturopaths Without Borders in Thailand, an expert contributor to The Whole Family publication, been a board member for VegTo (formerly Toronto Vegetarian Association), and sits on the board of directors for the Aurora Community Band. She loves spending time in nature, eating chocolate, reading, walking, playing saxophone with her local concert band, and cuddling with her husband and two dogs.
