Dr. Antequera es Cirujano Titulado superior Especialista en el Hospital Universitario de Fuenlabrada (HUF). Un hospital de 13 años de antigüedad pionero en el uso de historia médica electrónica en España. Como presidente de la Comisión de Gestión del Conocimiento del HUF trata de impulsar la innovación en medicina a través de la Sesión de Incubadora de Ideas que se desarrolla mensualmente.Entre los años 2011 y 2013 desarrolló su actividad profesional en Reino Unido e Irlanda como Cirujano Consultor, adquiriendo gran experiencia en la gestión sanitaria y en la dirección de equipos humanos.Sus intereses principales son la cirugía mínimamente invasiva y la cirugía endoscópica. Él es un experto en el tratamiento laparoscópico y endoscópico de la obesidad, una de los mayores problemas globales de salud pública en la actualidad. Inició y coordino la implantación del proyecto de Cirugía Bariatrica en el HUF. Otras áreas de especialización son los cánceres gastrointestinales y hepatobiliares y los sarcomas de tejidos blandos. Después de obtener su doctorado en 2004 con una tesis sobre el trasplante de órganos, ha centrado su investigación en obesidad, tratando de encontrar marcadores tempranos de trastornos metabólicos en pacientes obesos que permiten a los médicos dar prioridad a los pacientes en lista de espera para cirugía bariátrica. Ha sido profesor asociado de cirugía en la Universidad Europea de Madrid y profesor Honorario de cirugía en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos y el Trinity College de Dublín.

At Adelaide and Meath Hospital, the HPB / Upper GI Unit (Professorial Surgical Unit) comprises 3 Consultant Surgeons, 2 Fellows, 2 SPR, 2 House Officers and 2 Clinical Nurse Specialist. It provides the full range of secondary and tertiary HPB and Upper GI surgical services, within state of the art facilities at the Hospital. My main interest is Bariatric Surgery, Gastro-oesophageal diseases and benign biliary disorders. The other two Consultants are more focused in Malignant HPB surgery and Pancreatitis. The Hospital is a major tertiary hospital with a teaching focus in partnership with the Trinity College of Dublin. The Professorial Surgical Unit carries the strongest teaching commitment and I have participate actively as a Honorary Professor giving lectures for 5Th year students and bed site training for 3rd and 5th year students. This position includes an acute on-call requirement shared between 4 surgeons. The hospital is the National Center for pelvic Surgery and the Heliport keep us busy attending road traffic accidents
